Why use an architect to design my property?
Our architects add value through creativity,
helping you to realise your own design ideas to their full potential.
House extensions designed with expertise maximise both your future
enjoyment and the increase in value from
an investment in your property.
A kitchen extension may turn a small cooking
space into a social family room, whilst opening the space to the
garden. A loft conversion filled with natural light may become an
exciting entertainment space for all the family, realising the potential
of your home.
An architect knows how to combine beautiful spaces,
materials and light to create a truly inspirational home
tailored to your family. Our architects are also experts in managing
the build process, from dealing with planning legislation to instructing
work on site.
Architecture for London can advise on sustainability
in the home and recommend materials with low embodied energy, whilst
specifying high performance insulation to reduce domestic energy
consumption.
What services do you provide?
In addition to offering
a full architectural appointment (from initial
sketches to completion on site) we also provide a limited service
if required. A limited appointment offers an economic
approach in the initial stages of a project, and typically includes:
The production of initial proposed drawings to illustrate options
A collaborative design development process
The submission of CAD drawings and reports for planning
Any subsequent drawing revisions required by the local authority
We are also able to provide a 'pay as you go'
option with an hourly rate to allow you
to fully customise our services. This can prove a cost effective
approach if you wish to take a greater responsibility in the design
process: we will help as much or a little as you require.
What will happen in my initial design session?
The first design session at your property lasts
for up to three hours. This meeting is tailored
to your requirements, and will usually include the following:
Discussing the feasibility of your ideas
An outline survey of your property
Sketching preliminary design options
Producing a 3D CAD model of the existing space
Developing a proposed design in 3D CAD
A 3D CAD 'fly-through' that clearly illustrates initial design ideas
An initial investigation into the cost of your project
Discussing the implications of planning & building regulations
Advice on other required services (such as a structural engineer)
Advice on a timeline for design and construction
An assessment of required consents: (such as listed building consents,
party wall etc. act 1996)
